London Free Press – Other Sports – Rumour of CFL owners getting together to bring in NFL is a stretch … No place for Boulerice … Raptors getting in on bidding for Kobe?
There are rumblings about that the Raptors are among the teams throwing names at Jerry Buss, hoping to find a match for the available Kobe Bryant. This possibility is too rich for Bryan Colangelo not to make at least take a stab at it …

Altraps.com Blog: Blood Flows Red on the Salary Cap
I’ve long argued that it’s these mid-level deals and not the obviously bloated max-contracts to unworthy players that destroy a team’s cap flexibility. Never in their Clipper careers will Cuttino Mobley or the Talented Tim Thomas be their team’s highest paid player, but the Clips will be on the hook for a combined $14 million dollars for their dubious services for each of the next three seasons. Look around the league and you see a lot of toxic tandems like this, from Vlad Radmanovic and Kwame Brown for Lakers (nearly $15 million this season) to Kenny Thomas and Shareef Abdur-Rahim for the Kings ($13 million escalating up to $15 million over the next three years).

In terms of roster moves, it doesn’t look like the Raps should improve in the win column, or really even reach last year’s total of 47. While I like the addition of Jason Kapono, and to a lesser extent Carlos Delfino, their division got considerably tougher in the offseason. I think the quality of the team will be better, even though they might not have as many wins to show for it.
Carlos Delfino: ‘If I had stayed with the Pistons… it would have been my last NBA season’
“This is my last season under contract and if I don’t do things well, next year I won’t clinch a good contract and will have to return to Europe,” Delfino told the Ole newspaper in Argentina. “If I am outstanding, I’m sure I will sign an even better contract.”
Delfino, 25, was among the biggest stars in Italy but never received much playing time in Detroit.
“The two parties tried a thousand things to make my situation in Detroit better, but unsuccessfully,” Delfino said. “This is my last chance because I finally left Detroit and Toronto is a different club.
“If I had stayed with the Pistons, I’m sure it would have been my last NBA season.”

Nothing but Nets- NJ.com
“The Nets knocked us off in the first round last year, so I would say they’re the team to beat right now in terms of roster, depth, and experience,” Colangelo said, when asked to evaluate the Atlantic Division recently. “Realistically, Boston is an unknown, and it will take time for them. So in terms of the division, I think we’re all looking at Jersey right now.”

4. Raptors’ bench is deep ? Before the start of these pre season games , most Raps’ fans and TO sportwriters felt that the team’s bench is at least 10 man deep. It appears now , that the team is in deep…..deep trouble . If B.C. continues to posture in his GQ attire , the Raptors will be DQ’d come playoff time !
