Something has happened to Bosh in the last half dozen games. Leo Rautins, colour man for some of the Raps broadcasts would have us believe Chris is finally healthy. Presumably the Christmas break finally did what not playing for the US team this summer couldn’t. With feet not giving him any grief he could play like the monster he always was. And his performances have reflected it, with Bosh turning in 4 (or 5) plus 30 games in a row and putting him in the same league as LeBron and Kobe over the last 5 games.

I wonder if it isn’t something else. Like Bosh finally browsing over to this blog, and reading my pleading with him to stop taking 19 seconds to decide what to do? I’ll let you decide.

Okay, it’s probably not my blog posts, but I do see him being far more decisive when he gets the ball. He starts his motion earlier, and completes his fakes sooner. He rarely triple fakes anymore and maybe takes just 2 jab steps instead of his typical 4.

The last few games he has moved quickly enough to actually force his way through double teams before they are completely set, giving him the opportunity for 3 point plays. Of course, he has had to, because he is starting to attract double teams again. We saw a lot of double teaming last year, but in the early part of this season that began to taper off. Bosh was not as big a scoring threat in December, shooting at 42% efficiency rate, as compared to 46% in November.

Early on, the Raps were seen as a definite three point threat, and Parker and Kapono attracted interest, as did TJ, though for other reasons. This undoubtedly helped Bosh’s game, opening things up a bit and allowing him to take uncontested 15 footers. But with TJ down, Bosh not hitting his shots and Kapono and Parker both watching their number of shots go down (Kapono because of less playing time, and Parker hitting his slump) the need to double anybody on the Raps dropped off.

Say hello to the New Year. Bosh is averaging 28 points a game in his last 10. He is once again attracting doubles. And he has also, as I suggested above, made his decisions a lot more quickly. This opens up the possibilty of actually passing out of double teams. And now that Parker has seemingly left his slump behind, it is time for Sam to try inserting Jason into the game a little sooner. Everyone knows you don’t want him there in the fourth, when you are trying to tighten the screws defensively, but he is perfect for later in the first, when Bosh is still on the floor, after he has established his game. Moon is the one who should come out. He can go back in after Jason has hit his 3 or 4 treys.

Oh, and speaking of Moon. STOP SHOOTING THREES JAMARIO. That’s not your job. And your % sucks. Block, reound, dunk and take 17 footers.
