Fore What Purpose?

Golf?

We are talking about golf?

Come on, man…..GOLF?

Seriously?

While I can appreciate that the media has to open up some fresh wounds to keep the vultures hungry, but what professionals do in their private time should never be a concern to us, unless it’s illegal.

How many personal performances do you think are affected by players dancing a bit too much, drinking a bit too much, catching the late screening of a movie, or getting up at 8am to take their kids to school? That ever written about?

If you haven’t won an away game in the playoffs, would you not rather practice on their floor and get a feel for it as opposed to running through a quick practice on your usual home floor, then a flight in the afternoon? Why not leave early in the morning (since the desired Saturday night flight didn’t work), get down to enemy territory and run through your sets and give your guys the rest of the day off to watch tape, relax, whatever? Makes sense to me.

To allude that the coach wanted to get down there to golf is insane. It’s bush league reporting. If you are pissed that Colangelo made it clearer that “I thought I put this to rest the other day, but let me say this: We have no intention of making a coaching change – period. It’s not an issue. He has three years left on his deal and what happened in the playoffs does not affect his status here. We lost to a very good basketball team”, then swallow your pride and carry on..find another story.

Now, had a couple of requests for a “report card” on the players, coaches and season. I generally don’t like them – they are far too subjective – but what the heck. I’ll put grades on but they will be based on a player’s ability, not against the rest of the league. A ‘C’ is an average year for that player. Let the arguments begin.
