- Jose joined by Colangelo and Mitchell

Colangelo:

- trade resolved a controversy, but this was brought on by two players with amazing talents

- nice to reward a deserving player and person

- important that Jose wanted to stay here

- we wanted to show him how much we wanted him here

- welcome back the “starting point guard”

- jose re-structured his deal since his deal would have put the team over the tax threshold by $60,000

Mitchell:

- proud of Jose

- he wasn’t given anything since arriving here.

- he made himself a very good player

- deserves to be a starter

- special day for Sam since they started with the Raptors at the same time

- sam and jose work well together

- jose controls the team on the floor

- a lot of respect as a person

- he has earned everything

- bryan’s environment has made it that players want to come to Toronto and stay

- changes our depth

- was important to get Jose signed

- roko has tremendous upside

- roko will be given the opportunity

- doesn’t have to yell at Jose anymore, can just talk to him

- point guard has to put himself last

- jose is as good as any PG in the league

Calderon:

- happy day for him

- franchise was going through rough times when he arrived

- easy negotiations

- wants the season to start, should be a great team

- the Raptors made the decision to trade TJ

- had to improve his understanding of the NBA, how the game is played, the rules, etc

- wants to improve every aspect of his game

- plans to keep working hard, doesn’t matter about the contract

- never entertained other offers

- family is happy in Toronto

- jermaine is a monster, excited to play with him

- disappointed Jorge is gone, but it’s the best thing for Garbo

- never saw the team as TJs or his.

- hasn’t spoken to TJ, but still have a good relationship

- wants to help Roko work every day and help bring him up in his mold

- has the confidence of the coach

- Spain has 3 point guards, so his time on the court should be shortened

- he thinks he was ready for the next step to become a starter, but it wasn’t a huge deal. If TJ had stayed, he would have still considered the Raptors

Gherardini:

- what Jose has accomplished is a great thing to show to young Europeans

- mentally he can handle more minutes, but he needs to pace himself physically

- more physical burden on his body

- winning the Euro was a turning point in his career
