Just over a month after his release from the Toronto Raptors, forward Jorge Garbajosa officially found his new home Thursday.
Russian Basketball Super League power BC Khimki announced the signing of Garbajosa to a two-year contract, ending a tumultuous two-year stretch for the 6-9, 245-pound Spaniard.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
With BC Khimki, Garbajosa will join former NBA players Pat Burke, Daniel Ewing, Maciej Lampe and ex-Raptors teammate Carlos Delfino.
So getting back to our original questions now that we’ve taken a more microscopic look at Colangelo’s career, has, as Kelly Dwyer put it, “the luster rubbed off of Colangelo?” Or after seeing the highs and lows, do you now think that yes BC has made some mistakes, but that he’ll continue to be quick in correcting things and consistently improving the club?
I’d have to say I’m solidly in the latter camp, with the recent Jermaine O’Neal trade paving the way.
The Joey Graham extension may have represented a lack of prescience on his behalf and Andrea no doubt looks like a top 10 pick in 2006 as opposed to THE top pick…but who’s to say Bargs can’t turn it around next year when he’s slotted at his correct position?

He is done – he is not! I believe letting him and Delfino go is a mistake. Looks it’s still easier then swallow the Capono – Bargnani pill.
Outside of the easy answer (Colangelo is a liar), I just think Garbo was unhappy and the Raps did him a favour. Let’s face it, ownership didn’t need the money from Spain to cover off Jorge’s injury….it was a way for BC to cover up his mistake.
Tune in next summer when he’ll claim that Larry Bird had pictures of him having sex with a goat in order to give an excuse as to why we are paying a one-legged past his prime former allstar a third of our salary cap.
