Our roster doesn’t have much depth on it this year and its imperative we got the most bang for the buck out of every player – especially the starting five – if we want to compete for home-court advantage. The guy that’s not getting mentioned much this summer is Jamario Moon who last I heard was representing the Raptors out west in Edmonton and playing hoops in someone’s driveway. We obviously expect improvement from Bargnani next year but if Moon even repeats the feats of last season, it’ll be considered a disappointing year. He must get better and make up for the lack of a true SF signing. It’s asking a lot.

Raptors – Jermaine O’Neal managed 42, 69, 51 and 44 games in his last four seasons in Indiana. Having quietly gone about an extensive workout program as NBA eyes focused on developments in Beijing, he needs a return to health to help Chris Bosh and Jose Calderón drive Toronto deep into the playoffs.

Saw Raptors’ new backup point guard Roko Ukic at the Olympics. Just one observer’s opinion, but he didn’t look NBA ready. Hope they have a Plan B to back up Jose Calderon this season

the silver medal for best FA signing of the summer goes to the Raps for locking up Jose Calderon into a contract that averages less than $9 million per season.  In the modern-day NBA, when quality point guards are worth their weight in gold, Toronto fans have to be pleased that the 27-year old Calderon will be running the show.  Throughout his career, Jose has been extremely efficient and effective whenever he has stepped onto the floor.  Last season he led the NBA with a mind-boggling 5.4 assist-to-turnover ratio (no other player in the league exceeded even a 4.6 ratio). He also shot over 50% from the floor and 90% from the free-throw stripe.  Now, the Raptors have to hope that he can continue to produce at that elite level while playing 40 minutes a night for a full season.  Considering Calderon averaged over 13 points and 9 assists per game in the 56 contests he started last year, they are obviously optimistic.
