These are my Toronto Raptors Linkage links for February 9th from 10:11 to 18:45:
- Advice For Bosh? – Admittedly, it’s a bit of a slow ‘news’ day. Not only did the Raptors have an off-day yesterday, but they’re stuck in the midst of another nasty losing streak (6 games) and I think a lot of the ‘analysis’ of this team has simply been beaten to death. Whether it’s talent; whether it’s chemistry; whether it’s mental … the fact is … the team isn’t very good right now. But I still believe they could turn it on at any point, ’cause I’m dumbfounded as to why the team on paper is not the same team we see on the floor.
- Bosh Out Again.. All-Star Game In Doubt – Chris Bosh did not take part in a full practice with the team and has been ruled out for tomorrow’s game in Minnesota. The Raptors will try to avoid matching their season high 7-game losing streak on Tuesday before hosting San Antonio on Wednesday. Check out the video report special to FAN590.com
- 25 Random Things About The Toronto Raptors – So instead of boring anyone with my random minutiae, I challenged myself to bore you with a list of 25 things about the Raptors that you might not have noticed or realized, or that you've been trying to block from your mind so you don't pick up a drug habit to cope with your increasing despair. I really had to fight to come up with 25 of these, but the last one might be the most interesting one of all.
- Whose Trade Is It Anyway? – The most apparent trade that has been up in the air for the past month has been a swap between the Heat and the Toronto Raptors that would send Shawn Marion and Marcus Banks to the Raptors for Center Jermaine O'Neal.
The Heat would greatly benefit from the trade due to O'Neal's size and the Heat's lack of presence in the paint. O'Neal is currently coming back from an injury, but has shown promise in a number of strong outings.
Another Raptor as well has been mentioned in trade rumors, and that is All-Star Power Forward Chris Bosh. The chances of Bosh coming to the Heat this year are unlikely as Shawn Marion and Marcus Banks are unlikely to draw the star Power Forward.
- Raptors.com 4th most visited site in NBA. (thanks to Nat77 for the link) – A snapshot of the weekly NBA team Web site traffic rankings show that the star-studded Los Angeles Lakers and the Cleveland Cavaliers attract the highest number of team page views, with the Lakers also leading the league in average daily unique visitors.
- Love ‘em or hate ‘em, the Raptors and Lakers top the NBA’s five-star bunch – I thought the Jermaine O’Neil trade was a lose-lose trade for the Raptors and the Pacers. I thought Raptors fans were way overboard when they predicted their team would challenge Boston for the Atlantic crowd. Yet even I could not foresee the doom and gloom that beset Toronto. The O’Neil Chris Bosh high-post, low-post tandem was supposed to be a thing of beauty, but it is actually painful to watch.
This team is not clicking at all. It seems as if even the mere thought of cohesion is being waved far away from the Air Canada Center. Their last game (a 78-70 loss against the Grizzlies) should be considered offensive, that is how bad it was. I can’t even give you a silver lining as Chris Bosh, who at least has looked even better than last season, is rumored to be leaving.
- Toronto Raptors Have Hit Rock Bottom – What does this team lack? They have three big men who could start on most NBA teams, a point guard who was apparently so good that they traded away TJ Ford just to gave him starter status, and a bunch of wing players who are each supposed to specialize in something. What's the problem?
Let's go through them one by one by damn one.
- NBA Stock Market: West Still Better Than East – Toronto Raptors – Like the Knicks, the Raptors also had a pretty tough stretch last week, having to play Orlando, Cleveland and the Lakers in a span of three days, then play a back-to-back at New Orleans and Memphis. That grueling five-games-in-seven-nights didn't exactly go the way they planned it (they went 0-5), but then again, that's pretty much how the Raptors' entire season has turned out. They are now second-to-last in the East at 19-34 and hold the league's longest active losing streak at six in a row.
- Tip-In: Toronto Raptors Post Game – Things Fall Apart – This game can be summed up pretty quickly. Poor effort led to poor shooting and poor shooting led to a unacceptable 78-70 loss to an inferior team missing it’s best player. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, even without Rudy Gay this Raptors team managed to lose to a miserable Memphis Grizzlies team and boy did they lose in style.
- RaptorsHQ Stock Watch for February 9, 2009 – Hands up to all who think the Toronto Raptors can win their 20th game prior to the beginning of March.
Let’s see, the T-Wolves are up next and they’ve been no slouch since Kevin McHale took over the coaching duties. Then San Antonio on Wednesday night, another game that looks like a sure loss, and the schedule resumes after the All-Star break with a match against Lebron and the Cavs.
Yep, that should be an easy one.
- Caption this – Win some awesome Raptors gear to ease the pain –
- Why the Miami Heat and the Chicago Bulls Should Trade for Amare’ Stoudemire – Hinrich himself should be shopped to the Toronto Raptors for Jason Kapono and First-Round Pick to give the Bulls the shooter they need to relieve pressure off of Rose as he develops more.
- The Long Road Ahead. – So the Raptors need to figure out how to fix this mess. Well more to the point Bryan Colangelo does. I have an interview later today so given that I thought we would make a list of things Bryan Colangelo must do prior to next season. As with all lists there could always be others and feel free to add your thoughts if you see something missed on the list. So here is the list in no particular order.
- Nets, Stoudemire, Bulls, Cavs – Pistons dealing Tayshaun Prince?. The fast-sinking Raptors are looking to shake things up and have talked to the Suns about trading Amare Stoudemire. But unless they decide to part with Chris Bosh, chances are slim that Raptors president Bryan Colangelo will get the All-Star power forward he drafted out of high school in 2002 when he was Phoenix’s top basketball executive. Bosh has missed the last two games with a sprained knee and his future in Toronto, beyond 2010 – when he becomes a free agent – is up in the air. So Toronto might be forced to get something for him. Detroit has been linked to Bosh in 2010, so it’s entirely possible that the Pistons will try to make it a three-way deal. Detroit’s Tayshaun Prince is being mentioned as one of the primary players who would end up with the Suns. — NY Daily News
