These are my Toronto Raptors Linkage links for February 12th from 12:14 to 17:39:
- Roko Ukic is a rock star – Need more evidence that Roko's a rock star? Here are a couple photos of Roko in his trademark Mick Jagger pose (thanks, Mookie):
- Spurs Attend Class At Roko U – For those of you unable to catch the game last night, you missed a good one (Damn you TSN2!!!!!). I was fortunate enough to witness a "Rudy"-esque underdog makes good story. There were the Raptors, short-handed without Bosh and Calderon, their top two players. Their best player in the last couple games, Joey Graham goes down to injury (shin contusion) and the Spurs big 3 of Duncan, Parker and Ginobili were in top form, combining for 74 of the Spurs' 89 points..
- The Roko Revelation – As is usually the case with foreign players, Raptors fans had a wide range of expectations about Ukic after he was drafted. Message boards scrutinized boxscores of his performances in the Spanish League, wondering when Ukic would come to Toronto and dissolve his mystery. Three years later — after two seasons in the Spanish League and one season in the Italian League — Ukic finally signed a three-year contract with the Raptors.
- Page 2 presents the worst contracts in NBA history – O'Neal emerged as a formidable big man in the two seasons prior to signing one of the largest contracts in NBA history. After signing the deal, he enjoyed one productive season, then missed significant time because of injuries and a suspension in three of the next four. Still, the Raptors took a flier on O'Neal and the remaining two years on his backloaded pact prior to this season, but so far his Toronto performance indicates he will never be an elite player again.
- Corey Maggette travels six times in 1 play –
- Spurs get a taste of RockNRoko –
- Rest,Reflect and Re-tool – Well I have a good night's sleep to think it over and I have not changed my mind. The Raptors are still in that same spot they have been for awhile. Even in a best case is that something to be excited about? Best being some how able to get into the playoffs and get pounded by the Celtics or Cavs. You can give me all the Atlanta Hawks and Denver Nuggets examples you like but I am not convinced.
- Tip-In, Toronto Raptors’ Post-Game: Roko-Motion – While I was 15 times as excited to see Duke vs. North Carolina than I was to see Toronto take on a San Antonio team that had won 11 of 13, this match proved to provide the greater drama of the two as the match went down to the final seconds.
And somehow it was TO that pulled things out, ending their stretch of games before the NBA All-Star break with two consecutive wins, both hard-fought fights to the finish.
- The Dino Blogger Has A Very Canadian Plan To Fix The Raps – I'm not sure if this is a good sign as we are less than 24 hours into the Raptors All Star break but I am already playing with a trade machine. I came up with 2 trades that drastically change the Raptors. 5 players go and 4 come back. If you like Canadian content you will love this idea. So are you ready to see my master plan?
- Will Stoudemire have a new home? – Toronto has been another rumored destination, but it doesn’t appear as if the Raptors have enough to interest Phoenix.
- The Hangar Hits Ten Years – This month marks the tenth anniversary of the opening of the Air Canada Centre, the waterfront home of the Toronto Maple Leafs, the Toronto Raptors, and the Toronto Rock and the preferred stadium for visiting top-forty artists. The ACC first opened with a Leafs game on February 19, 1999, a 3-2 win over the Montreal Canadiens (which, amazingly, came within a day of not being aired on account of a CBC technicians' strike).
- Warriors’ rookie Anthony Randolph catches Donnie Walsh’s eye & Colangelo’s – Randolph is on the Knicks' radar, but there is no guarantee that the Warriors will trade the first-year forward. Randolph's name has already been mentioned in trade talks with the Phoenix Suns for Amare Stoudemire and with Toronto for Bosh.
