What’d it take?

Ninety minutes? A wee bit more?

To sell out the end-of-camp scrimmage, I mean?

Whatever it was, it was quick, I bet.

So, what will you lucky ticket holders get to see?

You’ll see tired players at the end of a stretch of six practices in four days doing a little shooting, some running and some stretching. You’ll see a layup line that might be the most entertaining part of the afternoon and it’s all very, very, very low key.

Not a bad way to kill an afternoon, I guess, and the fans do seem to have fun. It is up close and personal but if you’re looking for anything serious, look elsewhere.

One thing about training camp you should know, and one thing I’ll repeat again a couple of times:

There is very little, if any, good access to the players. None of the workouts is open to anyone – we only get in to see them shoot free throws and finish up, if history holds – and while some may stop and sign an autograph near the bus that takes them away, some will scurry to their seats to get out of there.

Turkoglu got off to a slow start in the NBA.  In his rookie campaign he averaged 5.3 points, 2.8 rebounds and 0.9 assists in 16.8 minutes and while that garnered him an all-rookie 2nd team selection, those numbers aren’t inspiring.

In his 2nd NBA season, Turkoglu doubled his statistical production across the board in only 24.6 minutes per game and 6th man consideration was in order.  But this success was short lived and the following season his numbers dropped precariously close to his rookie production.  Hedo found himself with a total of 9 DNP-CDs in 2002-03.

Ninth? Really. A team that got markedly better at every single position, including the depth positions.

Ninth. In a year where our franchise player is entering his contract year.

Ninth. You say were only going to win six more games then last year regardless of the fact that last year we had no bench, our ONE point guard was injured for three quarters of the season, and our star player was embroiled in a controversy which took his head completely out of the game.  Ninth…really?!!!

More than 400 participants, including families, seniors, students and community leaders, joined forces on September 20 for the Walk for Abruzzo – a 4 km walk at Boyd Conservation Area that raised funds and awareness for the victims of the earthquake that struck 49 towns and cities in Abruzzo in April.
The event, organized by the Abruzzo Earthquake Relief Fund (AERF) and generously sponsored by the Carpenter’s Union, also featured a family barbeque and a very special surprise visit by Toronto Raptors stars Andrea Bargnani and Marco Bellinelli, who thanked the crowd for their efforts and signed autographs for adoring fans.

The Pistons are one of several teams that should be in contention for a playoff spot in the EC this season. At this point, these two squads seem comparable to one another, from a player personnel and head coach perspective. In a situation like this, the home team usually has enough of an advantage to secure a victory. On the other hand … if Detroit’s veteran back-court can dominate the Raptors’ set of guards, it could easily allow the Pistons to emerge with a hard-earned road W.

The view from this corner says that … if both are able to maintain relatively good health … when all is said and done, 15-20 years from today, Danilo Gallinari will be acknowledged as the superior NBA player, by a wide margin, given his diverse skill-set.

Chris Bosh knows this is his contract year and will be playing at the highest level of his career. This by no means that Bosh will only be putting in the extra work because of contract status, Chris Bosh is an Elite NBA player and one of the top 10 players in the league. Now while Chris Bosh may humbly acknowledge that fact, he is by no means content with staying stagnant as an NBA player. He is looking to grow every year as an NBA player and he is hungry for some playoff success.

We feel Chris Bosh is in for a career year in ALL offensive categories, including scoring.

Now while he stopped short of officially naming DeRozan the starter, all ones has to do is read between the lines and it is easy to hear that Triano is divulging his plans without putting that official stamp on it. Barring a Ron Artest of old style preseason meltdown it is safe to say that barring injury the DeRozan era begins October 28th 2009 at the ACC.
